Koolkarts was founded in 2004 by Ralph McLean in Kitchener, Ontario. Ralph McLean is a Kitchener resident. He has worked with refrigeration for several years with his primary business McLean Mechanical. McLean Mechanical has been going strong for over two decades providing 24 Hour Service, including refrigeration and equipment repairs and rentals. Through his dealings with the public he felt that he was in a position where his customers constantly required alternative refrigeration for events outside of there original location, most often outside. Ralph decided to build a mobile refrigerated trailer to accommodate those needs and then he came up with the name Koolkarts. Things progressed from there on. The logo was designed by Eyelight Inc. located in Waterloo, Ontario. Koolkarts was incorporated in the same year and became Koolkarts of Canada Inc. The prototype Koolkart was built by hand by Ralph McLean himself in 2004 and was mounted on the chassis of a boat trailer. The prototype Koolkart was purchased by a promotions company in Cambridge, Ontario in May, 2008. A new Koolkart has been developed and the design has changed surprisingly and significantly.
